Plotner Takes Over Tiger Baseball Program

Assistant baseball coach Curt Plotner has been promoted to head coach, replacing longtime head coach Howard Quigley, who retired at the end of the 2017 season. Plotner has been an assistant at Republic since 2010. Before that, he was an assistant coach at Drury University for four years.

In a press release issued by the district, Plotner said he looks forward to helping further develop Republic’s youth baseball program, and leading summer programming through league games, tournaments, and camps.

“I have been a part of this community for close to 10 years now. I know what a wonderful community it is, and I am looking forward to leading the baseball program,” Plotner said in the release. “It is my hope that our kids will be leaders in the classroom, the community, and on the baseball field.”

Plotner will lead an informational meeting for players and parents at the RHS baseball field on Monday, May 22. Incoming freshmen and sophomore players and parents will meet at 6:30. Juniors and seniors and their parents will meet at 7:15.
