Tennis Tigers Take Another Title

Republic’s run of tennis success continued with another tournament championship Friday, as the Tigers captured the Waynesville Tournament title for the first time ever. Republic won three of the four brackets to finish with a team score of 28 points — just four points shy of a perfect 32.

Case Birlew and Hunter Creek won the #1 doubles flight, defeating Waynesville 9-7 in the championship match.

Austin Massey and Logan Elder won the #2 doubles flight, beating Waynesville 8-4 for the title.

Dylan Mackey, playing in the top singles bracket, lost only one match, in the semifinals. He rebounded to win the third-place match 8-6 over School of the Osage.

Brett Carpenter won the championship of the #2 singles flight, beating a Forsyth player 8-6 in the finals.
