It didn’t take long for the Lady Tigers tennis team to dispatch Reeds Spring in their season opener at home Friday evening. Republic lost only four games in nine matches, on the way to a 9-0 win.
Three Lady Tigers picked up their first career victories at the varsity level. Carly McAtee, Jordyn Gianopulos, and Katie Stiles, playing in the 4th, 5th, and 6th lineup spots, respectively, each won their matches easily. So did Kaitlyn Snyder, Heather Georges, and Molly Womack–Republic’s three returning varsity starters. Snyder is playing in the #1 lineup spot for the second year in a row, but Georges and Womack moved up to face tougher competition this season.
Stiles and Gianopulos both completed the night without losing a game in either their singles or doubles matches.
Republic is 1-0. The Lady Tigers’ next varsity match is at Bolivar next Tuesday.
