The new-look Tigers got in some work before the lightning forced an early end to their day. The day was divided into three segments: a freshman/JV game, a youth skills camp, and a scrimmage for the varsity players. But lightning caused a delay in the middle of the first scrimmage, then forced an end to the day after a few varsity plays. (See the photo gallery below.)
"It's an opportunity to bring the community out and have them watch us, and maybe get excited about it," says new head coach Dustin Baldwin. "Unfortunately, the weather wasn't great. We were in and out. The young guys got pretty close to the amount of plays we were going to do, but the older guys didn't really get much at all, so that's unfortunate."
The Tigers will be back on the field next Friday night at Springfield's JFK Stadium for their annual jamboree. It begins at 7 pm.
