If you lined up the all the softball players in the Central Ozark Conference over the past five years and asked someone to point out one of the most prolific power hitters in Missouri softball history, it would probably take quite a while before someone settled on Kami Holt. But beyond her role as a team leader and an anchor of the Lad Tigers’ infield defense, what Holt accomplished at the plate was almost unbelievable.

Not only did Holt break the Republic school record for career home runs, finishing with 27, she did it in only three seasons as a varsity starter. Holt’s 27 home runs put her at 6th place all time in Missouri history. If you count only the games in which she batted (she was a frequent pinch-runner as a freshman), Holt averaged .28 home runs per game. That would put her at 7th place in Missouri history. You voted her climb to home run heights as the #2 story of 2016-17.
