Ragsdale Leads Republic to COC Win

Freshman Kaitlyn Ragsdale was 4-for-4 with three runs scored, two stolen bases, and an RBI to help Republic beat Branson on the road Tuesday night, 6-3.

Ally Stolte, Livia Collier, and Megan Weis also had two hits apiece for the Lady Tigers. Stolte drove in three runs and Collier drove in two.

A two-out, three-run rally in the 6th inning made the difference for Republic. when Weis singled and Ragsdale doubled her home. After Stolte walked, Collier doubled home two more runs to give Republic a 6-2 lead. Branson scored one run in the bottom of the 7th, but couldn’t get any closer.

Republic scored a single run in the 1st inning when Ragsdale singled and stole second base, then scored on a single by Stolte. In the 2nd inning, Weis and Ragsdale singled, and Stolte doubled them both home.

Collier pitched a complete game to earn the win. She allowed three runs — one earned — in seven innings, walking one and striking out three.

Ragsdale, Stolte, and Collier, the top three hitters in the lineup Tuesday, are batting a combined .506. Ragsdale has run her stolen base total to 26, just three away from Republic’s single-season record.

The win improves Republic’s record to 12-5. The Lady Tigers are at Carthage Thursday.
