Stolte Slugs Republic to Victory

Ally Stolte swatted two home runs, had three hits, drove in five runs, and scored three times to lead Republic past Kickapoo 15-5 Friday evening. Julia Higgins added a home run of her own, and the Lady Tigers banged out 15 hits as they improved to 11-5 this season.

Everyone in the starting lineup for Republic scored or drove in a run. The Lady Tigers jumped ahead with nine runs in the top of the 1st inning. That rally was highlighted by two three-run homers: one by Higgins and one by Stolte.

Kickapoo scored two runs in the 2nd and two more in the 4th to cut the Republic lead to 9-4, but the Lady Tigers responded by scoring six runs over the final three innings to put the game away.

Stolte and Megan Thorne had three hits apiece. Kaitlyn Ragsdale stole two more bases, bringing her season total to 24. Livi Collier pitched six innings, allowing five runs (two earned) to pick up the win. She struck out two and walked two.

Republic travels to Jefferson City next Monday for a non-conference game.
