Republic’s Destiny Church is organizing a local relief effort for the Joplin tornado victims. Pastor Chad Blansit says you can bring non-perishable food items, blankets, towels, and clothing to the church all day today. Volunteers will load a trailer full of supplies and drive it to Joplin this evening around 5 p.m. The items will be delivered to another church in Joplin, which is operating as a disaster recovery center.

You can also donate money, and designate it for Joplin tornado relief. Blansit says they’ve collected $1,300 so far. All the money collected will go to Ignite Church in Joplin for its disaster recovery efforts.

“We’ve had a doctor and nurse from our church down there, and they say it’s the most devastating thing they’ve ever seen,” Blansit said. “They say the devastation is bigger than they’re talking about on the news, even now.”

Destiny Church is located behind McAlister’s in Republic.
