Republic put an exclamation mark on their claim to the #1 district seed with a blowout win over Marshfield Thursday, 6-0. They are now 4-0 against the teams in their district.
Sara Marcotte scored three goals, and Sierra Casagrand, Samantha Minor and Lesleigh Fenton added one apiece.
Marcotte got things started with a goal at the 36 minute mark in the first half. She scored a second goal when the ball bounced off a Marshfield defender on its way into the goal. Casagrand scored next to make it 3-0.
Marcotte got loose in the goal box again late in the first half and put the ball in the back of the net to make it 4-0, and that was the score at halftime.
In the second half, Minor scored on an assist from Marcotte with 34:48 remaining to give the Lady Tigers a 5-0 lead.
Lesleigh Fenton rounded out the scoring, scoring with 8:58 left.
The Lady Tigers improve to 12-6.
The Republic Lady Tigers reached another milestone in their young program’s history, capturing the first tournament trophy over the weekend.
Republic jumped ahead early and never looked back on the way to a 5-1 soccer victory over Carthage.
Samantha Minor and Sierra Casagrand scored two goals apiece as the Lady Tigers beat Central 5-3 Tuesday night at Republic.
Sierra Casagrand scored three goals in the first 24 minutes, leading Republic to a 6-0 win over Hillcrest at home.
Republic blew a 3-0 lead, but recovered to beat Liberty Thursday at home, 4-3.
