Tennis Team Wins 3rd Straight Monett Tournament

The Republic Lady Tigers tennis team won the Monett Invitational Tournament for the third straight year Friday.

Jordan Jones dominated her singles flight, and two Republic doubles teams were in the finals as well.

The Lady Tigers still have only one setback on the season — a disappointing loss to Ozark earlier this week.

Tennis Team Rebounds, Romps Past Reeds Spring

Two days after suffering their first loss of the season, the Lady Tigers tennis team got back in the win column. Republic swept Reeds Spring 9-0.

Coach Eric Hanson says the team played “much better,” even compared to previous wins. In both singles and doubles, most of the matches were decided by wide margins.

Here are the details:

Singles
Samantha Minor def Dakota Shoemaker 8-3
Courtney Jenkins def Yun Han 8-3
Danielle Hopkins def Ana Moser 8-1
Meagan McCord def Cheyenne Randle 8-2
Jordan Jones def Katelyn Hubbard 8-0
Hayley Walser def Autumn Ward 8-2

Doubles

The win improves Republic’s record to 8-1.

Republic’s Undefeated Run Ends

The Lady Tigers tennis team has finally lost a match. Republic traveled to Ozark Tuesday for a COC matchup, and lost 5-4. It’s the first loss of the season for the Lady Tigers, after starting with seven straight victories.

“The girls played hard, but made too many mistakes in general,” coach Eric Hanson said. “Ozark did a good job of keeping the ball in play.”

Here are the singles and doubles results for Republic:

Samantha Minor 2-8
Courtney Jenkins 6-8
Danielle Hopkins 8-4
Meagan McCord 6-8
Jordan Jones 8-1
Hayley Walser 3-8

Video Week in Review

Here’s a video recap of some of the biggest moments in Republic Tiger Sports last week.

McCord Keeps Lady Tigers Undefeated

It came down to a dramatic tiebreaker at the end of the night, but the Lady Tigers tennis team stayed undefeated with a 5-4 win over Webb City Thursday evening.

After eight matches — three doubles and five singles matches — Webb City and Republic had each won four. The final singles match of the night between Republic’s Meagan McCord and Webb City’s Macy Layne went the distance, and more.

McCord jumped out to a big lead, only to see Layne storm back to force a tiebreaker. But McCord captured the first two points of the tiebreaker, and went on to win it 7-3.

The win keeps Republic undefeated on the season. Here are the individual match results:

Samantha Minor def. Maranda Ann Miller 8-3
Danielle Hopkins loses to Kirsten Robertson 7-9
Meagan McCord def. Macy Layne 8-8 (7-3)
Jordan Jones def. Emily Graskemper 8-0
Hayley Walser loses to Elizabeth Tappana 1-8
Chloe Hindy loses to Darshi Edirisooriya 1-8
Minor/McCord def. Miller/Robertson 8-3
Jankins/Hopkins lose to Layne/Tappana 6-8
Jones/Walser def. Graskemper/Edirisooriya 8-1

The Webb City JV squad defeated Republic.

New Facility, Same Results for Girls Tennis

The Republic Tennis team opened their new tennis complex with a 6-3 win over Forsyth! That keeps the varsity squad undefeated on the season. Here are the photos from their big day.
