Lady Tigers Ride Over Mustangs

Alice 001The Republic Lady Tigers bolted out of the gate quickly and left the McDonald County Mustangs in the dust, earning a 64-27 road victory.

Alice Heinzler drained six 3-pointers and finished with 24 points.

Alex Botkin had 12 points and Brooke Dutton scored 11. Baylee Rayl added five, Lindsey Carlson had four, and Kailey Mathis, Alexis Edwards and Sarah Kreul chipped in two apiece.

Heinzler led the way early, hitting four of her 3-point buckets in the first quarter. Republic led 21-6 after the first period, and eventually built the lead to 29-6 around the 5:00 mark of the 2nd quarter. A 6-0 run by McDonald County to close the half made the score 33-15 at halftime.

The Lady Tigers extended the lead to 41-15 early in the 3rd quarter and eventually extended the lead over 30 points, triggering a running clock for most of the 4th quarter.

Lady Tigers Pound Central

Alice Heinzler scored 20 points and the Republic Lady Tigers used a big 2nd quarter to pull away from Central on the way to an 80-51 road win.

Republic led 14-9 after one quarter, but outscored Central 25-11 in the 2nd quarter, and led 39-20 at halftime. They extended the lead to 59-38 at the end of three periods, and outscored Central 21-13 in the final quarter.

Sarah Kreul added 14 points for the Lady Tigers, and Lindsey Carlson scored 11. Brooke Dutton had 9 points, Alex Botkin scored 8, Taylor Wells and Baylee Rayl had 6 apiece, Tori Taylor scored 4, and Kayla Bartelsmeyer scored 2.

The JV girls won 50-15.

Lady Tigers Golf Team Takes 4th at COC

The Republic girls’ golf team finished 4th at today’s COC golf tournament. They were led by Baylee Rayl, who finished tied for first after 18 holes, with an 81. Rayl ended up finishing 2nd, after losing a three-hole playoff to Ashley Rand of Branson. Rand birdied the third playoff hole, after the two had halved the first two holes of the playoff.

Allison Quigley finished 4th with an 87. Other scores for Republic were Alexis Faxon with a 121, Bailey Cornelison with a 125, and Makena Fisher with a 126.

The Lady Tigers will be back in action on Wednesday at the Jim Pearson Memorial Tournament at Horton Smith in Springfield.

Two Republic Golfers Medal in Opener

Allison Quigley and Baylee Rayl both received medals to start off the Lady Tigers’ golf season at the Seymour Invitational Tournament.

Quigley and Baylee Rayl both shot a 91 at the Marshfield Country Club on Monday, to finish 10th individually.  Among the other Lady Tigers in the tournament, Bailey Cornelison shot a 119, Erin Carleton shot a 136, and Makena Fisher finished with a 134.

Quigley and Rayl were both state qualifiers last year. Quigley finished 37th, and Rayl was 66th at state.

Girls Golf Qualifies 3 for State

Three members of the Republic Lady Tigers golf team have qualified for the state tournament later this month. The team finished 3rd overall at the sectional tournament this week, behind champion Lee’s Summit West and runner-up Kickapoo.

Senior Payton Rayl shot a 79 — good enough for 5th place at sectionals. Sophomore Allison Quigley finished 15th, with an 88. And freshman Baylee Rayl finished 17th, with a score of 89. All three will compete at the Class 2 state tournament at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield. The tournament is scheduled for October 18th and 19th.

2nd Place Finish for Golfers

The Republic Lady Tigers golf team fell a little short of their third straight tournament title Wednesday at Fremont Hills. Republic finished second, four strokes behind Kickapoo, with a 383.

Payton Rayl was the top individual, shooting an 84. Baylee Rayl shot a 98 to place tenth, and Alexis Edwards shot 99 to finish 11th. Allison Quigley turned in a 102, playing for the first time since an illness kept her out of yesterday’s tournament in Bolivar.

Republic is back in action next Monday at Marshfield.
