Lady Tigers Pull Away Down the Stretch

The Republic Lady Tigers used a big 4th quarter to secure a 61-50 victory over Carl Junction on the road. Republic led 35-32 at the end of the 3rd quarter, before exploding for 26 points in the final period.

Republic had a balanced attack offensively, with three players scoring in double figures. Kayce Duvall led the way with 15 points. Payton Rayl had 13, and Jayme Sifferman added 12. Carlie Campbell and Courtney Gardner added eight points apiece.

Republic improved to 5-1. Their next game is Monday night against Kickapoo. It will be the final high school game ever played in the current gym.

Stander Scores 34 in Win over Carl Junction

Kevin Stander scored 34 points to lead the Tigers to a 67-51 win over Carl Junction last night. Stander had four 3-pointers as he set a season high in scoring.

Republic jumped on top early and never looked back. They led 21-10 after the first quarter, and 37-25 at halftime. Their 67-point total was the most they’ve scored since hanging 84 points on Aurora in the season opener. Josh Morrow also scored in double figures, with 11 points. Dylan Fletcher had 9 points for the Tigers.

Jansen Adams led Carl Junction with 14 points, and Jake Stevenson chipped in 11.

The win improves Republic’s record to 4-1.

A tater for Tater

After_sectionalsSenior Amanda “Tater” Davis had never hit a home run before, at any level.  Until Wednesday.  With Republic leading Carl Junction by one run in the top of the 6th inning, Davis hit a grand slam to break open the game and propel the Lady Tigers to a 6-1 sectional victory.
