Girls Golf Qualifies 3 for State

Three members of the Republic Lady Tigers golf team have qualified for the state tournament later this month. The team finished 3rd overall at the sectional tournament this week, behind champion Lee’s Summit West and runner-up Kickapoo.

Senior Payton Rayl shot a 79 — good enough for 5th place at sectionals. Sophomore Allison Quigley finished 15th, with an 88. And freshman Baylee Rayl finished 17th, with a score of 89. All three will compete at the Class 2 state tournament at Twin Oaks Country Club in Springfield. The tournament is scheduled for October 18th and 19th.

Girls Golf Team Wins 1st Tournament

Republic Qualifies Two Golfers for State

Republic finished tied for third place in the District 8, Class 2 Golf Tournament Monday at Horton Smith Golf Course in Springfield. Junior Payton Rayl finished second overall, with a 77. Freshman Allison Quigley shot an 86 — a personal best — to place eighth. Both qualified for the state tournament later this month.

This is the third straight year for Rayl to qualify for state. She finished one stroke behind district winner Meg Alumno. Rayl has finished among the top four in every tournament this season. She won the Fremont Hills Tournament.

Other Republic golfers competing at district were sophomore Alexis Edwards (98), freshman Alice Heinzler (99), and senior Lindsay Mansker (103).

The State Tournament will be at Fremont Hills in Ozark on Oct. 19th and 20th.

Rayl Wins Ozark Tournament

Payton Rayl got some nice coverage in the News-Leader today, after her win at the Ozark Tournament.  Rayl struggled with her putting, but shot an 83, to earn a 1-shot victory over Jessica Dillard of Kickapoo.

Girls Golf Finishes 3rd at Seymour Invitational

Republic’s girls golf team finished third out of twenty teams in the Seymour Invitational Monday at Marshfield Country Club. Kickapoo won the tournament with a total score of 344. Mount Vernon finished second, with a 362. And Republic finished at 372.

The Lady Tigers had two medalists. Payton Rayl’s 78 was good for third overall. Allison Quigley shot a 91, which was good for ninth.

The team is going for a third straight COC championship this season. They’ve won the previous two titles by at least 30 strokes.
