Lady Tigers Pull Away Down the Stretch
The Republic Lady Tigers used a big 4th quarter to secure a 61-50 victory over Carl Junction on the road. Republic led 35-32 at the end of the 3rd quarter, before exploding for 26 points in the final period.
Republic had a balanced attack offensively, with three players scoring in double figures. Kayce Duvall led the way with 15 points. Payton Rayl had 13, and Jayme Sifferman added 12. Carlie Campbell and Courtney Gardner added eight points apiece.
Republic improved to 5-1. Their next game is Monday night against Kickapoo. It will be the final high school game ever played in the current gym.

Republic Overcomes Slow Start to Beat McDonald County
The Republic Lady Tigers scored only 13 points in the first half — but made up for lost time after the break, running away with a 63-38 win over McDonald County. The victory puts Republic in the finals of the Lady Houn’ Invitational at Aurora Saturday.
Republic jumped on top 2-0 with a quick score by Jayme Sifferman, but failed to score another field goal until late in the first quarter. They trailed 7-5 after one period.
To start the second quarter, the teams traded baskets early, until a 3-pointer by Courtney Gardner gave Republic the lead at 12-11. From there, McDonald County outscored the Lady Tigers 5-2 as the half ended, to take a 17-13 lead into the locker room.
But Republic scored the first seven points of the second half to storm ahead 20-17, and never trailed the rest of the way. They led 37-26 at the end of three quarters, and outscored McDonald County 26-12 in the fourth quarter to seal the victory.
