McCord Keeps Lady Tigers Undefeated

It came down to a dramatic tiebreaker at the end of the night, but the Lady Tigers tennis team stayed undefeated with a 5-4 win over Webb City Thursday evening.

After eight matches — three doubles and five singles matches — Webb City and Republic had each won four. The final singles match of the night between Republic’s Meagan McCord and Webb City’s Macy Layne went the distance, and more.

McCord jumped out to a big lead, only to see Layne storm back to force a tiebreaker. But McCord captured the first two points of the tiebreaker, and went on to win it 7-3.

The win keeps Republic undefeated on the season. Here are the individual match results:

Girls Tennis Team Trounces Nixa

The Republic Lady Tigers tennis team beat Nixa 8-1 Thursday. It’s the second straight victory for the Lady Tigers, who beat Clever to open the season.

Lady Tigers Sweep Clever

The Republic Lady Tigers tennis team swept Clever to open the 2011 season, winning all nine varsity matches.

Samantha Minor, Courtney Jenkins and Meagan McCord took their matches 8-3. Jordan Jones won her match 8-2. Danielle Hopkins and Hayley Walser both swept to 8-0 victories.

In doubles, all three teams (Minor/McCord, Jenkins/Hopkins, and Jones/Walser) won 8-2.

The Lady Tigers improve to 1-0. The match was played at Nixa because of a delay in the new courts being built at Republic.

The JV matches were cut short by lightning.

Girls Tennis Team Keeps Momentum, Crushes Aurora

TennisThe Republic girls tennis team stayed hot Tuesday, with an 8-1 win over Aurora. The Lady Tigers won all three doubles matches, and five of the six singles matches, in an easy victory.

The win continues Republic’s momentum from their last outing, when they won the Monett Invitational Friday. In that tournament, Samantha Minor and Taylor Sherman teamed up to win their flight of the doubles bracket. Amanda Pinnell and Jordan Baker finished fourth in their doubles bracket.

On the singles side, both Courtney Jenkins and Meagan McCord finished second in their respective brackets, helping Republic earn the overall team title.
