The Republic Lady Tigers lost a two-goal halftime lead in a 5-2 home loss to Carl Junction Thursday.
The Lady Tigers controlled the first half, but didn’t score until the 14:13 mark, when Sara Marcotte took a feed from Sam Minor in front of the goal and gave Republic a 1-0 lead. Marcotte scored her second goal a few minutes later, and Republic took a 2-0 lead into the halftime break.
In the second half, with Carl Junction tied the game with two goals in a 2-minute span — then a little later, around the 20:00 mark, they scored two more goals, 26 seconds apart, to take a 4-2 lead. A final goal late in the game accounted for the final margin.
The loss is the second in a row for Republic. The Lady Tigers lost at Ozark 8-0 on Tuesday. The day before, Republic defeated Hillcrest 4-0.
