The Republic Lady Tigers held top-seeded Marshfield scoreless for 72 minutes, and dominated time of possession most of the way, but fell short in the district semifinal, 1-0. The Lady Jays scored the game’s only goal on a good cross with eight minutes left. The hard-fought loss end’s Republic’s inaugural season.
The Lady Tigers had lost to Marshfield 6-2 earlier in the year, but played even with the Lady Jays for one half in their first meeting. Republic played a much better game at Marshfield Tuesday, but couldn’t get the ball in the goal despite having scoring chances.
Republic ends its opening season with six wins.
