A Tale of Two Homers

Dickens 242It was the best of times for Patrick Dickens at the plate, but it was the worst of times for the rest of the Republic lineup, as the Tigers dropped a home game to Ozark 5-4. Dickens homered twice for Republic, but that was just about the extent of the offense for Republic, who couldn’t overcome an early deficit.

Republic fell behind 5-0 early, giving up single runs in the first and third, and three runs in the fourth. Dickens closed the gap with a 2-run shot beyond the left-field scoreboard in the fifth inning, to make the score 5-2. He slugged another homer past the scoreboard in the seventh to make the score 5-4, but that’s as close as Republic got.

Republic falls to 10-4 this season. Ozark is 8-5.
