Metscher & Way Lead Republic Performances at Willard

Sophomore Ryan Way’s victory in the “Jason Pyrah Mile” was one highlight of Republic’s performances at the Jason Pyrah Invitational in Willard.  Way finished with a time of 4:31.74 to win the race, which is named for the 1987 Willard graduate. Pyrah competed in the Olympics twice and is one of the best track athletes in Missouri history.

Junior Garrett Metscher also continued his strong season with two more victories. Metscher won the long jump (20’7.25″) and triple jump (43’9.5″).  He also placed 6th in the high jump.

In addition to Way’s victory, several Republic athletes placed near the top in their events:

Freshman Molly Zinecker, 100m dash – 5th, 200m dash – 5th
Freshman Abby Norris, 400m dash – 4th
Junior Kavosha Edmunds, 100m hurdles – 2nd
Girls 4 x 100m relay – 5th
Girls 4 x 200m relay – 3rd
Girls 4 x 800m relay – 4th
Junior Sarah Kreul, discus – 5th
Sophomore Ryan Way, 3200m run – 2nd
Garrett Metscher, long jump – 1st
Garrett Metscher, triple jump – 1st
