Senior Night Slugfest

Seniornight 2Clayton Rose slugged a three-run homer in the first inning and Republic went on to blitz Monett 15-0 on Senior Night.

The Tigers scored four in the 1st inning, and that was more than enough for starting pitcher Riley Norris, who was in control from start to finish. Norris didn’t allow a hit until there were two outs in the 4th inning. He pitched a complete-game one-hit shutout to pick up the win.

“The biggest thing we’ve been working on with him is locating pitches,” says coach Howard Quigley. “He’s got a very good breaking pitch, he’s got good velocity on his fastball. Sometimes he struggles with his location. Tonight he did a good job. He was locked in, he was focused.”

SeniornightRepublic honored its four seniors, Garrett Woods, Jacie Austin, Dalton Cooper and Patrick Dickens, playing their last regular-season home game.

“It’s good to see the seniors all come out and make a contribution,” says coach Howard Quigley. “We have four good seniors, and they all came out and played well tonight.”

Republic improves to 12-6.
