Ray, Way, Edmunds Lead 13 Tigers into Sectionals

Track meetThirteen Republic Tigers will compete in track and field sectionals after a big day at the district meet in Carl Junction Saturday. The Tigers were led by TJ Ray and Ryan Way, who each captured a district championship, and by Kavosha Edmunds, who qualified for sectionals in three events. Republic qualified athletes for sectionals in 12 events total.

(Note: The result sheet I saw originally listed the incorrect team on the 4×200 girls relay. I’ve made the correction.)

Edmunds qualified in the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, and as part of the 4×200-meter relay team.

Ray won the 400 meter dash, and also anchored the 4×400-meter relay team that advanced by finishing 4th.

Way is the district champion in the 1600-meter run, and finished 2nd in the 3200-meter run.

Abby Norris qualifed as part of a relay team — the 4×800-meter — and in the 400-meter dash.

Both the boys and girls teams finished 5th overall, out of 16 teams. Eight girls qualified for sectionals, and five boys. The girls team set 12 personal records Saturday.
