With the departure of head coach Katie Kreimer, the Republic volleyball team had a lot of question marks heading into the 2011 season. But new coach Piper Wright and her squad answered those questions and more, racking up 30 wins on the way to a third state quarterfinal appearance in five years.
Republic captured the district title with a dramatic win over Nixa, avenging an earlier loss, 28-26 18-25 25-14. You can see video of that win here, or read the recap.
The Lady Tigers traveled to Jefferson City for the sectional and quarterfinal matches. They pounded Jefferson City 25-18 25-19, before dropping a three-set heartbreaker to Ozark, 26-24, 19-25, 25-18.
The season ended with a record of 30-6-3.
