Dishman Era Begins with a Blowout at Cassville

Eckhoff 001

Maddy Coates had three hits and Taylor Gold doubled twice to power the Republic Lady Tigers past Cassville in their season opener 10-0. The win was the first for Republic under head coach Lee Dishman, who took over the program in the offseason.

Senior Stephanie Eckhoff was the winning pitcher for Republic. She pitched a 5-inning complete game, and allowed just two hits in five innings. She struck out three.

The Lady Tigers jumped on top 1-0 in the second, when Eckhoff walked and scored.

In the top of the third, the offense exploded for five more runs, sparked by a two-run double by Taylor Gold that scored Danielle Shelton and Rachael Michaelis. A Cassville error and a single by Lauren Strobel gave two more runs to the Lady Tigers, who led 6-0 after three.

Republic scored four more runs in the top of the fourth to nab a 10-0 lead, and that’s the way it ended.

Republic is 1-0 on the season.

In the JV game, Republic scored three runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back, on the way to a 15-2 rout. Cheyenne Roberts doubled home two runs in the first to get the party started. Morgan Cantrell contributed three hits and four RBIs for the Lady Tigers, and Molly Zinecker also added three hits.
