Republic’s top two singles players will team up in the state sectionals. Michael Nacy and Bradley Hendrix finished second in the district tournament at Joplin Friday.
After a first round bye, the Republic duo won their opening match 6-1 6-1. They knocked off a doubles team from Neosho to move into the finals, where they were upset by Nixa’s Zachary Gardner and Garrett Bacon, 6-4 6-3.
Nacy and Hendrix will play in the sectionals at Gillenwater Tennis Complex in Springfield Tuesday. They’ll meet a team from Glendale, with the winner advancing to the state tournament.
