Oak Park’s Quick-Strike 2nd Half Dooms Lady Tigers (Photos)

Two goals in a two-minute stretch helped Oak Park edge Republic Saturday, 2-0. Republic controlled possession for most of the first half, but couldn’t get the ball into the back of the net. Midway through the second half, Oak Park broke the stalemate — then tacked on another goal in the 63rd minute to ice the game. (See photos below.)

For Republic, it was the fourth consecutive game without a goal, as the offense continues to struggle under the weight of injuries. The Lady Tigers last scored in a 1-0 win at Carthage two weeks ago. At least six players who figured to see regular playing time for coach Kevin Hauck are now on the sideline because of injury.
