Off the Field: MSU Invitational Honors Choir

Each week, we’ll step Off the Field to take a closer look at some of the Republic students who are competing in non-sports activities. Our weekly report is brought to you by State Farm Agent Sarah Rader. Talk to her about how you can save money by combining your home and auto insurance.
More than 30 schools, including Republic, sent students to the Missouri State University Invitational Honors Choir in September. Two students from Republic were among the eight chosen as “outstanding soloists” for the event. About 250 students attended in total.

“Students from all over the state rehearse all day together and hold a concert in the afternoon.,” says choral music director Kevin Williams. “Each school may submit two students to audition for outstanding soloist.”

Two students from the pool of nominees are selected, and four others are given honorable mention. Republic’s Megan Sly and Rachel Berry both earned one of the four honorable mention slots.
