Tiger Wrestlers Earn Home Split

Freakstyle Wrestling is a new brand of lifestyle and performance apparel designed by wrestlers – made for wrestlers and their fans. And it’s all designed, created, and produced right here in Republic. Thank you to Freakstyle Wrestling for sponsoring our wrestling coverage on Republic Tiger Sports.

Republic split their two duals in a home triangular Tuesday, edging Camdenton and losing to perennial wrestling power Neosho.

The Tigers defeated Neosho 37-36, with pins by Michael Taylor, Seth Wild, Tyler Dawson, and Austin Moody. Jonathan O’Connell won a major decision and Darren Aldrich also won on points.

In the dual against Neosho, Republic picked up three victories (to go along with one forfeit at 138). Taylor pinned Noah Reiboldt at 4:41, Wild pinned Jacob Fry less than a minute into his match, and Dawson won a 4-0 decision.

The Tigers are back home Friday night, hosting Raytown South, Heritage, Ark., and St. Joseph Central. Those three teams will be in town for the Republic Invitational, to be held on Saturday.
