Photos: Varsity Baseball Senior Night vs Catholic

A grand slam by Zach Cole in the fourth inning was the difference in the game, as Springfield Catholic won its 21st game of the season and spoiled Republic’s Senior Night, 8-4. The Tigers fell to 9-15.

After the game, the Tigers honored their five seniors. Coach Curt Plotner praises their attitude when facing the changes he’s implemented since becoming head coach.

“These five guys have been great. It would have been easy for them to not buy in to the changes that we have made, but they bought in and set a great example for all of the younger guys,” Plotner says. “I have been saying from day one that the change in our program involves everybody. Those guys laid the framework for any kind of success that we may have in the future. It has been a pleasure to mentor them, and I hope they know that I would do anything for them in the future.”
